Entry 2: A prayer (8 days later)

God, please give me the courage and drive to do the things that I know I should do and not the things that come easily. Help me face my fears and conquer them to get the results that I know I’m capable of getting. Help me to feel encouraged rather than discouraged. Help me to keep an open mind and heart throughout the day. Help me to stay positive and not unnecessarily focus on the negative things today and throughout this week. I pray that my life and contributions can make a difference in my students’ lives and the people who I come into contact with this week. Help me to be open with my feelings and wishes and desires and struggles with those that I encounter and help them to gain something from it. Help me to live wholeheartedly each day this week. Help me to be open and generous to others happily. Please help me to plan this day well and really deliver. Help me to always analyze what I’ve done to improve for later. Help me establish valuable routines that allow me to perform at my peak and focus less on distractions. Help me to succeed in improving the way I do things, think about things, and the questions that I ask myself. Thank you for the love and goodness in this world. Thank you for my wonderful friends and family members. Thank you for my dream husband and dream lifestyle that I have. Please help me learn to appreciate them more and more as time passes. Help me to focus more and more on the positive as time passes. Thank you for how comfortable and blessed we are in our lives.

Note: After having the great idea to start journaling every day, I did it that first day and then didn’t write another entry until eight days later, and I didn’t even manage to do the three pages, obviously! It’s hard to start a new habit, so cut yourself some slack if you’re starting something new and don’t stick to it in the beginning. That’s normal! Just do what you can, and when you fail, forgive yourself and keep looking forward!

I'm a normal person with a special drive to have a great life, but there are so many things keeping me from it. I think journaling was a big part of the answer for me, so I want to share my unedited journal entries (except to add some clarifying information or remove names). Hope it can help someone in some way <3
